Baking is Love

Okay, so I'm going over to Rae's house this weekend and needed to bring something to her family.
Obvious solution: cookies!
Then I realized that by some incredible twist of fate, I don't have butter.
That is, I still don't have butter, since I realize this every time I go to bake something.
But I'm also lacking in margarine, shortening, etc, and applesauce only works for cakes and brownies.
You know what does work?
Peanut Butter
I baked some peanut butter and chocolate cookies that I never made before but always ate thanks to Momma C.
Thankfully my parents tolerate my calls home to bother about food, so I got the recipe!
And here it is for your enjoyment:

Peanut Butter Kisses

18 oz. creamy peanut butter*
1.25 c sugar
2 large eggs
9 oz package Hershey Kisses**

Preheat oven to 350F
Mix peanut butter, sugar, and eggs
Put tablespoon amounts of dough onto cookie sheet
Cook for 10-12 minutes
Immediately after removing from oven, push a Kiss onto each cookie
Once cool, transfer to wire rack or container

*for smaller groups, halving the recipe is a much better plan
** 1 Kiss/cookies -- I used Dove Promises in mine

Please Read This Book

A book never made me physically ill until "Dead Man Walking." I don't know how anyone can condemn another human being to death in this fucked up system of ours. I don't know how you live with that guilt - especially when the person may be innocent, which happens far too often. And the execution of a single innocent person is, in my book, far too often. Killing someone proves nothing. Evidence shows that the existence of the death penalty doesn't change the nature of criminal behavior. Yes, the family of the victim cries for justice, but what of the family of the murderer? Do they deserve to suffer for their son's crimes? Their mother's?

Writing this term paper is going to rip my heart out of my chest, I swear.
